Britney To Perform At VMA’s?
Friday, September 5th, 2008There’s been no news, then news and now this. It’s been rumored that Britney would open the Video Music Awards with a performance. That rumor was shot down. Then it was confirmed that she would indeed open up the awards show BUT would not be performing. Now, MSN has a video of Britney rehearsing a dance routine to what may be a new song. I don’t know for sure if she’s performing, but one things for sure, Brit’s body is kicking and she looks ready.

Okay, dudes and dudettes - sorry to burst all your lovely bubbles today (of all days on a manic Monday), but our Britney’s not performing at the upcoming MTV Music Video Awards show. She was rumored to be appearing on the show because homegirl got three nominations and starred in the VMA promos with this year’s host, Russell Brand. Brit’s manager, Larry Rudolph, talked to Ryan Seacrest on his radio show this morning and told listeners about the Brit-less VMA show. “Britney Spears will not be performing at the VMAs this year. I’m telling you officially and unequivocally,” Rudolph announced. Boo to that! Maybe the reason why some folks (the haters) wanted to see Brit perform at this year’s VMAs was to see her fall apart again (we have a weird fascination with train wrecks, unfortunately), but I really wanted to see her kick some arse. Don’t fret, though, my little kumquats, Larry told Ryan that Brit’s working on her album and that should be her top priority right now, anyway (next to her kiddies, of course). Maybe next year! Besides, knowing MTV, maybe she IS performing, but it’s just a very well-hidden secret. Go figure.

Britney Going Back To VMA’s

Britty-Brit is going to be back on MTV’s Video Music Awards, y’all. Okay, so she’s not confirmed to perform yet, but it looks like it’s getting close to happening. E! News’s Marc Malkin is reporting today that Brit will appear in a television promo for this year’s VMAs. She shot the spot earlier this week at the Paramount lot in Hollywood with first-time host, British comedian Russell Brand, one of the stars of this year’s Forgetting Sarah Marshall. “It was mostly ad-libbed, with Russell asking her for advice about hosting the show,” a source told E!. “There’s also a 9,000-pound elephant in it, as in ‘the elephant in the room.’ ” Interesting. Britney is nominated for two VMAs, so there’s still a chance she’ll be tapped to perform. The awards show will be aired on September 7, live from the Paramount lot.
